DIY Spirit Gear: Hair Bow!

Are you ready to deck out in spirit gear, and got your outfit but you don't know what to do with your hair??
This bow we are about to make will be perfect for any school event that you need to be decked out in spirit gear! (But aren't we always supposed to be spirited?)

First off, the materials you will need are:
  • Scissors
  • 1 roll of 1.5" thick ribbon (color of your choice)
  • 1 roll of 2 centimeter thick ribbon (color of your choice)
  • Hot glue gun (w/ clear glue sticks)
  • Bobby pin or Hair tie
Let's begin!

  1. Measure out how big you want your bow. (longer the bigger, i recommend 20-24") I used about 24"
    2. Flip over your ribbon so that the shiny side is facing down and the dull side is facing up; the shiny side will be the side people will see! Now, fold your ribbon into the shape shown below. (Fold right side down and then left side)
    3. (optional step) This step is optional but if you want to add a little detail to your bow, take each end and fold it in half and cut a diagonal like it is shown in the picture below!
    4. Now, here is the kind of difficult part that takes a little time. Take about a 4" long piece of ribbon of your thinner ribbon. This will be the accent piece and the piece that will hold all this in place! Place this ribbon under the big bow like so
    5. Now, take the thinner ribbon below and make knot that is tight enough so the bow does not slip out. This is where you will adjust the bow to your desired size and shape. It should look something like this.
    6. If you did it right up to this step, it should look a little something like this. I know it looks funny but its okay, it'll get better! Now, since you tied the center piece in, all you need to do is adjust the size "ears" and end "tails" to your desired length and size.
    7. Now, it should look something like this! Doesn't it look more like a bow now? Yay, we're almost done. Now you should have you bow to your desired shape and size. Now all you need to do is wrap the remaining center ribbon to hide to knot and glue it so that the bow will stay in place. (If you are using a hair tie glue the hair tie onto the bow also. If not, proceed to the next step)
    8. Last but not least, slip you bobby pin into the crevasses of the center ribbon!
    9. Your bow should look something like this! If you want you can always add jewels or even just take a marker and write your favorite teams (ROYALS) name or even your name!
